A transparent PC made using a process that is said to dramatically increase the resin's toughness while maintaining its clarity has been developed by GE Plastics, USA.

To make the new resin--called Lexan EXL--GE takes a standard PC and grafts silicone to its molecular structure, forming the product by a copolymerization process.
