You probably have heard of Jim Rome, who hosts a nationally syndicated radio show and will make his return to television May 6 with his own show, "Rome Is Burning," on ESPN.

Chances are you have not heard of Mark Shapiro, who is responsible for bringing Rome back to ESPN. Shapiro is executive vice president of programming and production. Shapiro and Rome have a connection dating back to 1993, when ESPN launched ESPN2 and Rome was hired as host of the "Talk2" show on ESPN2.
