CHICAGO -- The stiffness in Jimmy Haynes' back wasn't causing Haynes any pain. But it was causing the Reds unspeakable pain.

That being the case, the decision was made after the club's most recent embarrassment du jour -- a 16-3 pounding by the Chicago Cubs before 29,672 on Thursday at Wrigley Field -- to place Haynes on the 15-day disabled list.

The injury was officially termed a bulging disc and back stiffness, which Haynes, Reds manager Bob Boone and pitching coach Don Gullett all said was preventing the veteran ...
