With CAP reform, extensification, the organic thrust, and FMD, monumental changes have left a mark on the meat market.

Many of the older breeds are being re-explored and some already enjoy a renaissance.

There are now several markets through which traditional breeds of cattle can be disposed. The UK replacement heifer market enjoys a total market value of pounds 10.5 million and the market value of the yearling heifers stands at pounds 5.5 million.
