Abstract

Food composition databases in general contain limited data on fatty acid profiles of foods, both in terms of foods represented and the range of fatty acids reported. The aim of this project was to compile a database of Australian and New Zealand foods for which complete and accurate fatty acid compositional data was available. The database constructed, contains 1044 food items with data on amounts of 31 fatty acids recorded to two decimal places as gram fatty ac...

Fatty acid export from the chloroplast. Molecular characterization of a major plastidial acyl-coenzyme A synthetase from Arabidopsis
Plant Physiology ; Fatty Acid Export from the Chloroplast. Molecular Characterization of a Major Plastidial Acyl-Coenzyme A Synthetase from Arabidopsis1 Acyl-coenzyme A (CoA) synthetases (ACSs, EC 6.2.1.3) catalyze the formation of fatty acyl-CoAs from free fatty acid, ATP, and CoA. Essentially all de novo fatty acid
Tight supplies keep pressure on prices. (fatty acid prices)
Purchasing ; Buyers can expect supplies of most fatty acids to remain snug into 1996. Years of oversupply, which resulted in weak pricing, has discouraged new capacity investments. Meanwhile, demand is growing at stronger-than-normal rates. As a result, prices for most fatty acids will remain firm into next
Longitudinal Assessment of Erythrocyte Fatty Acid Composition Throughout Pregnancy and Post Partum
Lipids ; Abstract Transfer of fatty acids from mother to fetus during pregnancy is a requirement for optimal fetal growth. We report a longitudinal study of full maternal erythrocyte fatty acid profile assessed at each trimester of pregnancy [mean 12.5 (range 8-14), 26.1 (24-28) and 35.5 (33-38) weeks'
Lonza exits fatty acid manufacturing with plant sale. (News).(Brief Article)
Chemical Market Reporter ; AFTER MORE than a decade of producing fatty acids and glycerine chemicals in the US, Lonza Inc. is ready to exit the market by selling its lone fatty acid and glycerine plant, located in Painesville, Ohio, to Twin Rivers Technologies Inc. Lonza will still produce ester and ester-amide derivatives,
A Whole Body, In Vivo, Fatty Acid Balance Method to Quantify PUFA Metabolism (Desaturation, Elongation and Beta-oxidation)
Lipids ; Abstract Currently there are several contrasting methods utilized for estimating elongation and desaturation of fatty acids and their general metabolism. The majority of these methods involve an ex vivo approach, requiring expensive and sophisticated equipment, likely to result in considerable
