The five gentlemen of soul hail from Harvey, IL, near Chicago and arrived on the music scene in 1935.
The Dells are Marvin Junior (lead); Johnnie Carter (1st tenor and lead): Verne Allison (2nd tenor); Charles "Chuck" Barksdale (bass); and Michael "Mickey" McGill (baritone).
