Théodule Ribot , 1839-1916, French psychologist. He was professor of experimental psychology at the Sorbonne and later at the Collège de France. His many works include Heredity: A Psychological Study of Its Phenomena, Laws, Causes, and Consequences (1873, tr. 1875), The Diseases of the Will (1884, tr. 1884), The Diseases of Personality (1885, tr. 1887), and The Psychology of the Emotions (1896, tr. 1897).
