Palamedes , in Greek mythology, crafty Greek hero of the Trojan War. Because he had exposed Odysseus when he tried to evade going to war, Odysseus falsely accused him of treachery, produced erroneous evidence, and had him executed. Some say that Agamemnon and Diomed, because Palamedes advocated peace, aided Odysseus. Palamedes was credited with many inventions, including numbers, measures, and the alphabet.
