George Willoughby Maynard
George Willoughby Maynard 1843-1923, American figure, marine, and mural painter, b. Washington, D.C., studied at the National Academy of Design and in Florence and Antwerp. Maynard created decorations for the Library of Congress and the old Metropolitan Opera House, New York City. His In Strange Seas is in the Metropolitan Museum.
