Kamyanets-Podilskyy , Rus. Kamenets-Podolski, city (1989 pop. 102,000), Khmelnytskyy region, Ukraine. It is a rail terminus and has industries that produce foodstuffs, tobacco, machinery, machine tools, and automobile parts. Kamyanets-Podilskyy was part of the duchy of Halych-Volhynia from the 12th to the 14th cent., when it passed to Poland. It came under Russian control in 1793. A popular tourist site, it features historic landmarks such as the fortress (15th-16th cent.), which is now a museum, and some cathedrals and monasteries dating from the 14th cent.
