Jubba , Ital. Giuba, river, c.1,000 mi (1,610 km) long, formed at the Ethiopia-Somalia border, E Africa, by the confluence of the Dawa and Genale rivers, both of which rise in the highlands of S Ethiopia. The Jubba River meanders S through SW Somalia to the Indian Ocean near Kismayo. It is navigable for shallow craft to Bardero. The only perennial river of Somalia, the Jubba has flood seasons in both spring and autumn.
