Francisco Gil de Taboada y de Lemos

Francisco Gil de Taboada y de Lemos , d. 1809, Spanish colonial administrator. After serving as viceroy of New Granada (1789), he was viceroy of Peru (1790-96). In Peru he introduced administrative reforms, encouraged the arts, and sent out exploring expeditions. Returning to Spain, he became a member of the governing junta after Ferdinand VII fled before Napoleon.
