Pat Harrison

Pat Harrison (Byron Patton Harrison), 1881-1941, U.S. Congressman, b. Crystal Springs, Miss. A lawyer, he served as a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives (1911-19) and in the U.S. Senate from 1919 until his death. He became (1933) chairman of the Senate finance committee and was active in putting early New Deal legislation through Congress. Harrison was opposed to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's tax measures but supported his foreign policy.
