Anaheim , city (1990 pop. 266,406), Orange co., S Calif., SE of Los Angeles; inc. 1870. Anaheim was founded by Germans in 1857 as an experiment in communal living. In an area once dominated by citrus and walnut groves, the city is now an industrial center, making electronic and computer equipment, plastic products, prepared foods, fabricated metal products, consumer goods, motor vehicles, and molded rubber goods. Anaheim is also one of the great tourist and convention centers in the United States. The theme park Disneyland (opened 1955, with Disney's California Adventure, opened 2001) is world famous; the California Angels (baseball) and Anaheim Ducks (hockey) play in Anaheim.
