Zoe Kazan grew up in California in a family with deep ties to show business: Her grandfather was renowned "On the Waterfront" director Elia Kazan and her parents are both Hollywood screenwriters.

After graduating from Yale University in 2005, she could easily have moved back to California to join the throngs of young actresses looking for their Hollywood break. Instead, the 24-year-old Kazan headed to New York where she's portrayed damaged young women in three off-Broadway productions, "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie," "100 Saints You Should Know" ...
