Unseen for 110 years, hand-colored prints by art nouveau master Alphonse Mucha to be auctioned

More than 100 bound, hand-painted lithographs by Alphonse Mucha, one of the fathers of the art nouveau movement, go on auction Wednesday. The works have not been seen publicly for over a century.

Swann Galleries President Nicholas Lowry gave a pre-auction estimate of the books of $300,000 (208,102) to $400,000 (277,469).

Art nouveau, which thrived from the late 1880s to the early 1900s, may be one of the most recognized and utilized art movements of the 20th century. Its influence continues to resonate, from the giant Cinzano poster ads still hugely popular today to Pink Floyd ...
