cardiogenic shock (kar-di-oh-jen-ik) n. peripheral circulatory failure resulting from an extreme form of heart failure, most commonly caused by myocardial infarction. Features include cool extremities, oliguria, hypotension, and poor cardiac output and cerebral function.
